- Photos and answers of some questions to display on your profile
Bumble encourages you when signing up to upload the full six images, as this will encourage more matches. The layout when signing up is very clear and concise, and this really helps when registering as everything feels so simple to do.
Bumble encourages its users to share as much information as possible, even down to smoking and drinking habits. This could maybe seem a bit too personal for some people, however you don’t have to include this information on your profile.
Bumble also asks their users to answer a few prompted questions, which showcases your personality and means you can start conversations based of other user’s answers. This feature is really great as it means you can get an insight into other potential matches personalities and interests.
- Women message first
- 24-hour limitation
- Questions feature
- Bumble BFF and Bizz
- Bumble boost
Women Message First: Bumbles features really centre themselves around women, and this is their main special feature. Because women have the power to message first, it allows women to feel in control of who they are speaking to, and stops users from getting unwanted messages from people (at least from people you haven’t spoken to at all).
24-hour Limitation: which means if the woman messages first within 24-hours, her match can reply. However, they only have 24-hours to reply until you are unmatched. Now, this feature is great in the sense that you have to put yourself out there (as a woman) and message first.
Bumble BFF and Bizz: Although most people use Bumble to find themselves a date, Bumble BFF allows you to meet new people without the pressure of having a romantic connection. Bumble even allows you to connect with individuals looking for business connections, this feature is called Bumble Bizz and is used as a networking channel for business men and women. Although you may be looking for a date and potential connection
Bumble Boost:This feature allows you to boost your profile, meaning you can see everyone who swiped right on you, rematch with expired connections and you can also extend your matches by 24 hours. This feature is fairly cheap compared to other sites, and will cost you up to $25 a month.
Despite offering various features besides dating, the actual core feature – matching and getting in contact with a date – remains limited since after a match, only women can send the first message.
- Offers filters and preferences to narrow down your searches
- Can direct message your matches
- Can filter matches by location, age and sexual preference
- Can set two advanced filters
Bumble allows you to set specific filters while looking for matches, these filters cover: location, age and sexual preference. These filters make it much easier to narrow down the amount of people you are swiping through, meaning you find better matches, quicker.
Bumble also offer free users two advanced filters. These filters allow you to filter your match on height, religion, animal preferences and many more. This feature is good as it means you can narrow down your potential matches even further, however free users can only choose two from the advanced filters, otherwise you need to pay and upgrade to be able to use every filter.
Bumble does not have a search option, which can make the app limiting especially with the 24-hour time frame to interact with new matches.
Bumble only needs very little personal information and it feels secure to set up an account,. However, compared to other dating apps, you cannot verify your profile pictures or other information so there is no guarantee that the person you are chatting with is real.
Bumble will only ask you for these things listed below when signing up:
- Email address
- Mobile number
- Gender identity
- Date of birth
- Sexual preference
- Social media accounts to connect to your profile (optional)
When signing up to Bumble you can also just link your profile to your Facebook account, which will automatically upload the majority of your information for you, except for your preferences etc.
As a whole, Bumble is a really good app which has really found its niche in the market, being an app that centres itself around creating a better online dating experience for women. Online dating on Bumble is fairly simple, there’s no confusion with any of their features, which are all extremely helpful when looking for matches. Bumble really encourages you to add a lot of personal information too, which is helpful when creating your profile and looking at others.
When it comes to messaging your matches, the 24-hour time period and rule that women can only message first does sometimes feel a bit limiting, as it means you have to check the app daily to make sure you don’t miss matches you want to message. However, this feature does mean you have to put yourself out there messaging first (something women don’t normally do when online dating). This definitely is a positive thing too, but wish there was no 24-hour limit on messaging, as people have busy lives and checking the app every day is not always possible.
